We decided to get a bus from Lima to the north of Peru to Chiclayo and trujillo but then changed our mind and so decided to go straight to Cusco. Bit of a waisted journey but we did get to see the countryside and so we bumped into a few irish on the bus!! 6irish to be exact and they ended up booking in to the same hostel as us! Una almost won a free bus ticket but some stupid peruvian guy ended up wnning instead!! Bingo on a bus is pretty cool!!!
At first we stayed in Southern Comfort Hostel which was pretty cool and had comfy beds!We decided to book the Inca Jungle Trek with the other 6irish who were from waterford bai!!!
The Inca Jungle Trek was a trek for 3nghts/4days and involved a lot of walking to Macchu Picchu!! Day 1 was a downhill bike ride for 5hrs. It ended up being for 55kms and was class!! Views were amazing!! Day 2 was where the hard stuff started. We had to walk for 7hrs which was along the original inca trail and was very tough!! We had 3hrs in the thermal springs after, which we lay in and looked at the stars so our muscles were well relaxed. We ended up staying in a nice hostel aswell which was very comfy! That night we ended up goin to a bar and Una who hurt her groin and wasnt walkin the next day got us all drunk!! We however had to get up at 7.30 and start walking for 3hrs in the heat!! Not a good combination!! Day 3 involved walking for 3-4hrs on a road in the heat, lunch and then a further 4hrs along train tracks to the the city below Macchu Picchu!! Day 4 was an early rise at 4.30am and walking up steps for about an hour!! This was really tough because of the altitude!! We ended up doin the walk but wehad the choice to climb Wayna picchu and John, Una and Percy did but the rest of us didnt bother!! I ended up lying in the sun with Fiona and the rest did more trekkig, i just couldnt be arsed!!!We got a train back to cusco and checked into Point Hostel!1 This was a party hostel but was possibly the coldest hostel ever!! There was plenty of drinkin had when we got back. Thats basically all we did
