OUF!
Notre famille d'accueil a ete geniale.

We´ve been in Chinchero for 12 days already! We live with our host family. Chinchero is a little village with 2000 inhabitants....we are in the middle of the mountains, up in the clouds. We are 30 kms away from Cusco...a wonderful city!

We have started giving English lessons and we have created a flyer to promote Chinchero, the artisan work, the school and the volunteer and intern program.

Leandro, our host father is a wonderful person.

With the help of the population, he opened a private school 11 years ago. Children from everywhere can attend and learn their future professions...hairdressing, cooking, mecanics, agricultural work, artisan work...etc etc...He also opened a private center where children can be educated from preschool to middle school. They have maths, Spanish, English, sport...etc...

We visited the village he is from. We picked giant zucchinis on his parents´property. He also took us to a beautiful Inca site.

Everything was going real well....until....Anthony ate a sort of cheese pastry on the street and got really sick...It started Sunday and Tuesday early morning, we took him to the hospital. He had a great German doctor who spoke English. After a series of tests, it turned out that he had typhoide fever, 2 parasites and bacteries. Thank God, we were in a wonderful clinic with great doctors. We had a giant room with 2 beds, 4 leather chairs, great bathroom, cable tv etc etc...After 3 days of IV and oxygen (to help with the altitude) he felt better and went straight to McDonald´s.
Our host family was great. They visited us twice a day everyday and called the doctor to make sure Anthony was fine. Very nice people!

Today we visited the temple of Chinchero and some ruins. More wonderful landscapes....breathtaking!
