The morning came early, as they usually do, and we were awoken by someone pounding on next door. It was a good thing since I set our alarm an hour off. Up there is where we started our day at and climbed to two other times before leaving Machu Picchu

They had intricate water disbursement to each dwelling, irrigation and drainage. Most still work today.

Look close: the head with beak and eye are the stone on the ground and the wing is the stone above.

Its shape mimics that of Putukusi, the sacred peak in the east of the valley.

Roof obviously reconstructed :-). Huayna Peak can be climbed, it is the peak in most "postcard" pictures of Machu Picchu.

Elevation
At Machu Picchu it is only 7,800 feet, at Cuzco it is over 11,000 feet.
