for all those that can read Spanish =)
Today we decided not to do too much, and just walk around Cusco at a leisurely pace. As it was our last day here. As we walked towards the central plaza (Plaza Mayor), we could hear a large commotion, people were out in their hundreds with banners, chanting slogans in Spanish. We were later to find out that this was a teachers strike and the transport industry had joined in and therefore had come a halt. No buses and trains were coming in or leaving the town. The streets were pretty deserted as almost everyone seemed to have joined the peaceful protest. Some of the backpackers were pretty distraught as they had bought train tickets to Machu Picchu and were being told that they would not be refunded.
We just walked around the whole day, hoping the strike would be over and we would be able to get tickets to Puno tomorrow morning. Will miss this beautiful town.
