In order to get to Machu Picchu I chose 76km long Salkantay trek - an alternative trek to the classic Inka trail. The agency which I booked the trek with wasn't one of the best ones but thanks to the bunch of people I was trekking with I had a fantastic time throughout those 5 days. Our group was pretty diverse which made the whole experience even more interesting (1 American, Swedish couple, 1 Sw... Read Full Entry

Aguas Calientes is almost next to Machu Picchu - where all tourists come to before setting off to the city of Inka, usually very early in the morning the following day. You can see this place growing....

the view from the top of Wayna Picchu is absolutely STUNNING!!! it is a sacred place and only 400 people a day are let to climb up the mount. The Inkas used to go there to pray or to contemplate.

Wayna Picchu means "Young mountain" in Quechua language. I was really exhausted when i finally got onto the top, i had never climbed up so many steps in my life before and in such a fast pace. Getting from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu was a real race, the earlier you get to MP the more chance that you will be admitted to climb Wayna Picchu (i had a feeling as if i was carried by some magic wings)
