Saylla Saturdays

The prime location for Chicharrones is in Saylla. Many of the smaller pueblo towns around Central Cusco specialize in one food. Here you will notice all most every restaurant offering this satisfying item. It is close to an hour via combi/bus (s/.1), 30 min via taxi (s/. 8-12) , or hour and a half via bicycle (s/. 0). We have been going there recently for use of the large community soccer field. Most Saturdays it is empty if you get there around 930, and it offers a pleasant escape to Cusco the city. If you seek to avoid cabs, smog, and dirty streets, this is a good place to travel to on the weekend. From Cusco you pass through a narrow pass in the mountain range, and Saylla lies on the other side where the range expands once more. There are fantastic views and you could even travel 15 minutes further to Tipon to hike up to the large archeological site.
