Message from the teens
For me it was too little too late. The impact of their begaviour has already affected my experience of CCS adversely!! Hi Folks,
Hope that you´re all enjoying the weekend!!
In yesterday´s diary I mentioned some sort of ´incident´ last night. Not sure of all the details, but it must have been significant, because this morning, there was a message from the teenagers on the notice board in the dining room. Wasn´t signed, and not sure who wrote it, but it was a message of apology. Have taken a photo of it. All I can say is included in the comment witht the photo!! Vicki and Wendy felt much the same!!
The majority of the teenagers have now either left permanently, or are away all next week on a trip. There will only be eight of us in the house next week, all like minded and relatively sane. I´m really looking forward to a week of peace and quiet, with plenty of hot water to go around for showers!! Will be bliss!!
Caitlin, Terry, Adam and Susan all set off on the llama trek this morning. Hope that they they have a good time and that the weather is decent!!
Wendy, Vicki and I decided to head to the Shining Path museum this morning. It is a
Shining Path Monument
The monument outside the museum is modern in design and has three sides. This side shows the types of guns and axes etc used during the Shining Path´s reign of terror in Ayacucho. museum dedicated to the lost and missing people of Ayacucho who were (almost certainly) murdered at the hands of either the Shining Path, or the government forces sent to Ayaciucho to resolve the situation. The museum was closed, but we spent some time looking at the monument outside and the murals painted on the exterior walls.
After that we headed to the fruit market just up the road for a wander around. First time Wendy and Vicki had been there. We stopped at the juice bar where the women were making the equivalent of smoothies from fresh fruit. We each had a pineapple one and enjoyed a chat with the woman working behind the counter. I really enjoy wandering around the markets and chatting to the local people. It´s how you really get to experience the culture.
Headed back to base for lunch which was very quiet - only Vicki, Wendy, Alicia and myself and two of the teens who are leaving tonight.
Wendy had invited us to a barbecue party this afternoon organised by one of the teachers in the school (Julie). These are usually arranged to help people within families who are struggling for some

In this case, the teacher´s uncle is suffering from cancer, and they were raising funds to help buy treatment and care. The cost of the ticket was 6 soles (approx 1 pound 20p).
When we got there we said that we didn´t want to eat as we´d had lunch at the house. Julie then provided us with doggy bags, consisting of barbecued beef (I think) and potatoes/vegetables. We each bought a drink at sat and chatted for a while.
We were then joined by a very elderly man (late 70´s early 80´s) called Roberto. Haven´t figured out whether he is related to Julie or not. He was obviously taken with the gringas and was three sheets in the wind too!! He sat at our table for a while a chatted whilst drinking his beer. At one point we reckon he told Vicki he loved her (watch out Mark - you´ve got competion)!! We hastily made our excuses and tried to leave. We stopped to say caio to Julie and her family on the way out, and thought we had successfully lost Roberto, but he was waiting outside for us, desperate to figure out where we

Still clutching our doggy bags, we headed home, and found three homeless beggars along the way who we gave the food to. They were extremely grateful - it really is very sad. Maybe there would be some scope for setting up the equivalent of the Lodging House Mission un Ayacucho - who knows?? Certainly won´t be able to achieve that in my remaining week!!
Headed to the internet cafe where I updated my diary for all you avid readers!! After that it was home for a lukewarmish shower before dinner.
Sue arrived and had dinner with us. Sue is the girl who volunteered with CCS and has stayed on in Ayacucho. She is currently teaching English at the University and is also a reflexologist. She is trying to build up therapy treatments and develop a client base in Ayacucho.
After dinner, the last of the youngsters left. Vicki, Wendy, Sue and I had a celebratory beer in the lounge to celebrate. Vicki and I then watched "Something About Mary" (Cameron Diaz and Ben Afflick) before heading to bed for a pure

That´s all for today folks. Hope you´re all having a great weekend!!
