Laguna 69 - on the way up
On our 2nd day in Huaraz we went on a trek to Laguan 69.
We woke up early (05:30 !!!) took a collectivo (local way of transportation - a minivan that stops wherever you want and carries upto 25 peoples at the same time) to Yungay. From Yungay we took a taxi (in collective price..) to Cepollabampa. This is a location stated on the map as a vilage. In reality the are three houses there. On the way we pased by Laguna Llanganuco. These is a twin lagunas that lye right by the "road". The water are in great turquise color and the whole scene is beautifull. The walking started at altitude 4200 meters and right when we started to walk we could feel the height. The trail was very very nice but the walking was not easy. We had a short deadline since the last collective leaves Cepollabampa at 15:00 and missing him means walking to Yungay. The trail started escalating soon and after a while Gil started to feel the altitude very bad. The back pack was handed to Naama and we continued. We have reached the laguna with no power left and not much time left too. The

laguna itself is beautiful (Naama will testify. Gil does not really remember how it looks...). On the way down Gil felt much better but Naama took his place and felt bad. (Boil's law?) We ran most of the way down since we were geting late. When we were close to Cwpollabampa we met the taxi driver that apparentlly returned in order to take us down to Yungay (again at collective price...).
The way down in the taxi had it's own share of wierdness - The taxi stoped to load and unload people (two in the front seat next to the driver, three in the bagage and so on), green beens sacks and more.
At the end of the day we returned to our hostal. Pleased but very tired (and aware to the fact that despite tthe way Gil treated it the altitude sickness is not a legend and can influence us...)
