There you are...my cute Asuncion, how a-yo?...Nice to be back after...28 years...holy crap, really that long?
arriving by bus from ugly, crappy Pedro Juan Caballero...Asuncion it's not just beautiful, it's a very friendly and safe city.
Funny story...the bus was passing through Concepción around 1 AM, I did not expect to see anyone out at that time but...who de phuck is here... two Jehovah's Witnesses sitting on a bench in the night and reading the bible to each other...holy crap...Did they have nothing better to do in the middle of the night in the middle of Paraguay?
Around 6 AM I was arriving at Terminal de Omnibus de Asuncion...I grabbed my luggage and got hold of a taxi to bring me to a hostel I have chosen out of a list on the Internet...
Well. Lucky I , what a pristine choice indeed...El Jardin Hostel...I did plan to only stay about 2 days but ended up 8 days purely out of comfortability and convenience...Also I run into an interesting crowd, none of those dull and empty tourist that usually occupy hostels around the world....I was talking to an American who decided to migrate to Argentina...Since
my upcoming plan...riding a motorcycle from Santiago de Chile all the way through the Atacama Desert in Chile, crossing the high Andes mountain ranges into Argentina and onwards to Paraguay, I thought he might have some insights about Argentian cities to hang out at...
The Hostel itself was quite empty at that time so it was extremely comfortable having this big garden and nice kitchen all to myself with just a few other occupants...
Well...my main purpose was to get a legally valid motorcycle driver's license for the Mercosur countries...Before you ask, here is the answer...I am driving motorbikes around different countries of the world, without ever having a license... However South America is a bit more strict on that issue so I decided to buy myself an entirely legal driver's license...After chatting with a Paraguayan guy over a few weeks he told me that he knows the chief of police in the little town he lives in, so I decided one morning to take a bus from the Terminal de Omnibus de Asuncion and go to give him a visit...As it turned out, I came back with a valid driver's license so I can go ahead and
buy my new motorbike in Santiago de Chile...The plan was either way, simply decided on the issue of the valid driver's license...
Thinking back to the trip, I am very happy that I got the opportunity to go ahead with...After all, Chile is very German in every way and the bureaucracy is strict, without a valid license I can't even buy a motorbike.
Finally I was ready to go on that long tiring bus trip all the way from Asuncion to Santiago de Chile, via Resistencia, Cordoba, and Mendoza in Argentina and then the final leg to cross the Andes into Santiago de Chile...
