Me and the QMe and the QMe and the Q

On top of the Basilica!
He was only here for 7 days, so we wanted to make the best of it. We spent:

•2 days in Quito: On the first day, we visited “Mitad del Mundo” (Center of the World). It’s cool because you can jump from one hemisphere to the other, but I was more interested in the museum. It’s very informative and it explains all of Ecuador’s geography, history, resources, cultures, traditions, etc by region (Ecuador is so diverse). The next day we went to Old Town (the Historical Center), which is full of historic churches, museum, but the most fascinating part of going to Old Town is the architecture, narrow streets and it's people. We went to La Basilica (my first time there as well), which is a big gothic styled church that started to be built at the end of the 19th century and is still under construction... It’s a very beautiful and interesting church but the best part is you get to climb at the very top, there are beautiful views of the city and a perfect view of the Virgin of Quito. We also went to El Panecillo, here resides the Virgin of Quito. She lives on a mountain

in the middle of the city. It seems never-ending to me.

•3 days in the Amazon Jungle: We booked a Jungle Tour here in Quito, flew to Lago Agrio (which is a jungle city, in the North of Ecuador, near Columbia) and then had to take a car and canoe to our lodge which was called, Paradise Huts. (Paradise is so true.) We went on a nature walk, where our guide Jorge (who called himself Jorge of the Jungle by the way) explained different species of plants and animals and how the natives use them for their benefit. We also went searching for Tarantulas, and yes we were successful. We went canoeing on several occasions, fishing for piranhas (although unsuccessful, I think we just didn’t have enough patience). We visited an Indigenous community (Secoya Tribe), which was my FAVORITE part; we got to learn about how they live (way of life and also how they survive, what they hunt and cultivate). We also made Yuca bread, and learned how to shoot some sort of contraption that they use to hunt. On our last day we made our way to El Coca, which is a jungle city (where I switch

from plane to boat to get to work.) We went for their Sunday Market. Which was small but… interesting?! (See pictures). So in conclusion our jungle experience was amazing, I am very satisfied! Our guide, Jorge (who is well known in Ecuador for his great tours) is very nice and funny, but most importantly he is super knowledgeable, he could answer every question we had, and if you know me, you know that I always have a lot of questions!

•2 days in Mindo: When we returned from the jungle we had two days left so we decided to go to Mindo. Mindo is a small sub-tropical town in the mountains, about 2 hours north-west from Quito, also known as my paradise. We took the bus there and stayed at "Mariposas de Mindo" (again). We visited the butterfly farm and went mountain climbing to the waterfalls. Mindo is just such a beautiful area. It’s so peaceful and the people are very kind. We had a great time in Mindo, of course, how could anyone not?!

So our trip was pretty short but very sweet! I absolutely LOVED spending time with my dad and I am extremely happy he
