After reluctantly leaving the Galapagos we flew into Guyaquil on a thursday, to discover it was a holiday and the whole city was having a party! (the actual holiday was the thursday but the party seemed to last the entire weekend) Guyaquil has an amazing boardwalk that is approximately 2.5km long, it is full of playgrounds, beautiful gardens, and some pretty good restaurants, so it was here that we spent most of our time just wandering around. Because of the holiday it was packed (see pictures), but there was also lots of things to do as well, from parades and outdoor art shows to a butterfly exhibit, we got to watch the newly released Batman in the IMAX theatre, and were even treated to an awesome fireworks display over the river as we sat down to eat one night.
We didn´t really visit much of the city but we did stumble into one of the city squares just to stroll around. We must have been there for about 15 minutes before we noticed a great big iguana walking across the path....then we started to notice that they were everywhere... and we mean everywhere there must have been at least 20 in

How many can you spot?
one tree alone! The kids we all having fun petting them and having their pictures taken with them, however they got more excited when ever they happened to spot a squirrel. We found this funny coming from waterloo where squirrels are everywhere.
