Everyone has heard of the Galapagos Islands, and know its full of wild animals that are as tame as your pet dog, but we were still a bit skeptical if its really as nice as everyone makes it out to be. We are not avid bird watchers or anything like that, and hoped we wouldn't be disappointed by our trip.
We treated ourselves to an eight day boat trip around the islands on a sailing-motor boat called Encantada. An essential part of any good trip is having a good group people to enjoy the travel with, and absolutely we managed to have just that. There were only 12 people on our boat which made it a very personal affair (plus 5-6 guys to take care of us, and make sure we didn't fall out etc), and we had a great mix of people from all over. The other important aspects of a Galapagos trip is
a good boat (which we absolutely had) and friendly knowledgeable staff (which again we had). So as you can see, we had a good setup.
Andy addig keresett a neten, mig megtalalta a tokeletes hajot. Neve Encantada. I think the moment it really sunk in that we were on the Galapagos was when we were at the small port waiting to get on the dingy to take us to our boat. It looked like a normal dock the only difference being all the benches in the waiting area had been taken by a bunch of sealions who where not particularly impressed by the strange bunch of tourists that had arrived, and had no intention of giving up their seats..
O a jo fej "soforunk" kisajatitotta. Jo fejek, csak kisse budosek. Siman maguk ala pisilnek es kb 1000 legy repkedett korulottunk, akik szinten nem feltek az emberektol.
And that first experience with the lazy sealions set the scene in a way for the whole trip.. Everywhere we went we encountered hundreds and thousands of animals (mostly birds, sea lions, turtles and reptiles), all of which treated us in the same way as that first set of sea lions. You can walk right up to any of these animals, so close you could almost touch them (although of course you would never do that), and they just look at you, eye-to-eye, as if to say "whats your problem, haven’t you seen one of my kind before?". Its crazy but its great!
Es ez innentol kezdve igy ment tovabb. Mindenhol oroszlanfokak, madarak, gyikok, tengeri es szarazfoldi teknosok. Fantasztikus elmeny! So for eight days we sailed between the islands (mostly at night, with sea sickness pills at the ready) and saw the most amazing
selection of friendly animals. We also managed 4 of the coldest dives we have ever experienced, but in amazing settings with thousands of fish, sharks, turtles etc. But the highlight of the diving for us was to see the 'lazy' sealions (they only seem to sleep on land) playing in the water with us. Germans call these animals 'sea-dogs', which for me is much more accurate than sea lion - they look at you with their big brown eyes just like a dog, and are so curious of you it made diving with them a real pleasure (despite freezing to death!).
Tehat nyolc napig ejszaka hajokaztunk, nappal szigetet latogattunk. A legjobbak a kivancsi oroszlanfokak voltak.
Even now just to think of our trip around the Galapagos brings a smile to my face. We had such a great time in this truly unique location, even though we are not bird watchers! It definitely exceeded our expectations. Needless to say we would recommend it to any and everyone. There is no other place like it in the world, and it really has to be seen to be believed.
Minden elkepzelesunket felulmulta az elmeny. Valoban kulonleges es egyedi helyszin. Szinte megszerettuk a madarakat. Mint apitol utolag megtudtam a magyar nevet, lattunk szulakat (angolul bobby) keklabut es pirosat, meg alarcosat (mas neven zorro szula), meg albatroszt es fregatt madarat es solymot. Nagyot es pelyhes bebit. Leirhatatlan az elmeny, csak ajanlani tudjuk mindenkinek. Nincs meg egy ilyen hely a foldon. Our next challenge is to try and find somewhere else on our trip that can match the enjoyment we had on the Galapagos.. Its going to be tough..
