The first day of the New Year..ah... and guess what? Thats right we all sleep in until about noon. haha. Should I give you a moment to get over the shock. No, I didn't think so.

Ok so Freddy (Marcela's husband) got up a little earlier. He prepared a traditional soup for us which had all the left overs from the night before in it and it is supposed to cure the hang over. Meaningless to say families all over Valparaiso where doing this at home and at restaurants.

After lunch we drove to the neighboring resort city of Vina del Mar where a century a go the rich of Valparasio would go for summer get aways. Today it is where Chileans and Argentines go to enjoy the beaches and upscale night life. We walked along the water front and had ice cream in the park beneath the palms. We drove back to the apartment and had a lazy afternoon and had an early supper.
