Well after all the fun and adventure of yesterday, we had a home stay with the locals on Amantani, we stayed in mud brick houses which were suprisingly nice inside, electricity, comfy beds and great people, we were greated and taken into their homes and given a magnificent dinner, comprising of that soup and a potato and rice dish, and of course more coca tea, this is what they eat most days, and fish from the lake, after dinner we were dressed in the local attire, Tad and myself in a poncho and Antonio in several skirts and a traditional blouse, and of course those fabulous hats that I dont think I have taken off since. after we were all dressed up to much laughter and fun, we headed to a party where another group of English tourists joined us, there was alot of traditional music and a bit of traditional dancing that lead to just an enormous amount of fun, these people were so lovely and friendly,

The next morning we were served a dish of pancakes, more tea and sent on our merry way, back to our boat with lots of hugs and good wishes, It had snowed that night, but melted by the time we got to Uros,
We travelled for about 3 hours until we got to the floating reed islands of Uros, wow....this was truly amazing these islands are completely made of reeds, originally built to escape the Incas, when you step on the islands they feel spongy under foot, and very damp, make you wonder how one could live like that, we took a ride on a reed boat, this was extremely stable and alot of fun, the islands have schools and shops like most communities, the locals of these islands must keep laying more reeds every week as the ones underneath root, they live off the lake, eating fish and shooting ducks, this was just an amazing place to see, pics attached.

did you buy the poncho?
It looks cold ! I would sleep in the poncho if I was you ! The weather is shit here...floods up north...tornados down south...and power outages up and down the country. Those reef boats look awesome. Avoid beggers and weird shifty locals. Keep your money on you as stuff goes missing out of hotels too remember. Just heard from Mum, she is cooking breakfast on the bbq as they have no power. Keep in touch and stay out of trouble.

Stephen Lake Titicacca is divided in half, one side Bolivia the other Peru, I left Puno which is in Chile to go to these islands and they are in the Chilien side of the Lake, so I believe that Chile is the correct Blog for these islands,
