We woke up to another foggy, cloudy day. After a quick breakfast we prepared for the day’s adventure. At 9:30 our driver picked us up in his car and drove us to the Casablanca wine region. We drove for about 45 minutes and arrived at the first vineyard. He drops us off and we go in. You have to have reservations (especially on the weekend). No one told us that and no one set up the reservations for us. Shelly did her magic and got us on the list for 12:30 (even though they said it was full) so we went in search of our driver and he said he would take us to another one and then bring us back. Now the driver constantly leaves his blinker on (forgetting to turn it off), we go further and further away and both Shelly and I wonder how we will make it back by 12:30. Then we are right at a toll booth and he turns around in the “paved” medium. My thought, he’s trying to avoid the toll. But no, about 1 mile down the road he pulls into another vineyard. The entrance was just a dirt road off the side

The chicks at the wine tasting of the highway. Well, this was an organic vineyard and we knew we were limited on time so we just did the tasting and not the tour. This worked out great. We saw chickens, ginny hens, llamas,… and even some baby chicks while we waited for the tasting. The wines were good and it turns out were some of the wines we had at the Eco Camp. I guess the Eco Camp uses organic wines. ;-)
After the tasting we hope back in the car and rush off to the 12:30 tasting. We get there just in time. We took a tour. I think by now we know a lot about the tours, but it does seem we learn one new fact on each tour. We followed that with the tasting. We sat with a couple that we met at the last tasting and they were heading out on a cruise the next day. The wines were good and Shelly and I got the premium tasting.
After that, the driver took us to a lunch place but it was closed so he then drove us to a much nicer place (vineyard) where we had
a wonderful lunch. Shelly and I napped in the car on the way back. When we got into town, he took us to the top of the hill overlooking Valparaiso and we saw all of the bay including the cruise ship we would have been on if we had taken the cruise and ended up here.
Back to the hotel for a nap and then a late (10pm) dinner. After that we went down to the waterfront to a bar the owner told us about. It had a lot of latin music and had multiple rooms where different bands played different kinds of music. We stayed until about 1:30 then taxi’d back to the hotel. We were told not to walk back at night.
