Hola! So here we are in the mountains looking at the beautiful mountains covered in snow every day. Learning Spanish and snowboarding; we have to say life is great right. All our long hours of work have finally paid off. So where to begin? We arrived in Santiago on Friday and found a back-packers in Plaza-De-Armas. It’s just like another city really, except for the shoe-shiners here and there. We stayed here for 2 nights before travelling up to the mountains. The snow has fallen early so the season has started in most resorts up here which has made it difficult to find work and for the fact that we speak poco espanol (little Spanish!) Our first South American skiing in Valle Nevado. After a few days in Santiago, we headed out for Valle Nevado in Los Andes. It's only about 1 1/2 hour drive from Santiago, but it's one scary drive. There are 35+ switchbacks and another 30-something hairpin turns, meaning that from Santiago you basically go straight up!! We shared the ride with a Brasilian couple, one of which had been practicing his english. As I was getting very carsick, I had to do something about it pretty quick, or we were going to have "a situation".
