Emi & Jennie
Jennie was a little confused how to drink her coffee from a bowl. The Santiago Adventure: Carina, Emi, Jennie and I made a trip to Santiago to go and stay at Dave's apartment and celebrate Sam's birthday. Upon our arrival at the bus terminal Emi said we needed to go and purchase our 'metro' ticket. A little confused at first as to what it was, I later found out we were going on a subway. Everyone seemed to be shocked when I said it was my first time on a subway. The first time it seemed to go so fast, but I think that was just in my head because it was a new experience.
Once arriving to Dave and Brian's apartment we got ready to go out on our first night on the town in Santiago. Uncertain as to where we were going to eat Dave made the decision to try out some Irish pub and have some American food (well that's what they called it). Our "American" dishes included Fajitas of which Brian and I shared, and Hamburgers (Jennie, Dave, and Emi). The food was eatable but not a place I would repetitively go to. While enjoying our meal we all realized what a small world it is when we

Make a wish..... saw Felipe (Emi's boss at UPLA, and well I guess my future boss....not quite sure). Emi decided she would go over and "salud" him before leaving the restaurant and in the moment of drunkenness he gave her the day off for Monday. She contemplated on not taking him up on that offer because she didn't know if he would remember, but she ended up going for it.
We decided to go down some street that is known for clubs for our first night. I think the name of the street was Suisa, or Suiza or...ok lets face it, I'm not familiar with Santiago. As we were heading to find a club to get into we were stopped ever five minutes by workers literally begging us to go into their club...free....ladies get a free drink....etc. So we pretty much bar hopped all night until we got sick of it. We heard people attempting to speak to us in English; surely we don't look like Americans. HAHA. Jennie was told "You are as beautiful as a Flower", I was told "I LOVE YOU" in English without even knowing this guy but about 5 min.

Is that really a cage full of birds?? apartment when Emi decided she wanted some food and she wanted it IMMEDIATLEY. So we went to a local restaurant in hopes to have some Chorianna, but unfortunately settled for a pizza that Dave insisted was DELICIOUS. Rest assured it was the most disgusting pizza I have ever seen and can't believe I even put it in my mouth. The pizza consisted of crust that didn't seem to be cooked completely, white cheese (think it was mozzarella, but didn't taste like it), tomatoes (slices), some kind of meat, some kind of brown sauce, and eggs that were cooked sunny side up placed perfectly around the top of the pizza. Believe it or not, I put that in my mouth and then regretted it the next day when I couldn't stand the sight of pizza. Once it was time to leave Jennie and I was left behind in the restaurant because were talking to some very friendly Chileans who were at the table next to us. Luckily Emi locked Brian out so that he had no choice but to wait for us. We remembered the apartment complex, but not the room number. Once again, Emi's watching out for her girls!

From Dave´s appartment Saturday was another exciting night. We first went and had dinner at a nearby restaurant where we encountered our first friendly waiter who actually gave good service. After dinner we headed to the bowling alley to go and start the evening off for Sam's Birthday with some bowling. Get this...I scored over 100 all three games which is so unlike me because I never score more than 100. I was on fire!! Maybe it was the Barry White and Madonna music they were playing that was pumping me up. After our evening of bowling we headed to a club with the group to go and do some more celebrating. The highlight of the evening was the performance made by Dave after waking up from the nap he decided to take at the table.
Sunday came along and Jennie and I left to meet up with Carina to head back to Viña ending our exciting get away trip to Santiago.
Benji- Tell me.....you have to be proud of my bowling score, you know me more than anyone when it comes to bowling.
Randi- Now I can completely understand what it meant for you to ride in a subway
Santiago
Unfortunatly not a clear day while doing your internship in DC. For me, it was rather exciting the first time but then didn't seem so exciting after that.
