Owners Rodrigo and Dani (his wife) show how to do the "cueca". A 'flirting" dance where partners move around each other while doing fancy movements with a handkerchief or scarf. Lots of fun!

I was lucky enough to meet these fun Argentinian musicians who were in town to do some performances for the National Holiday Celebrations. Apparently they're really well known in South America. Had a free concert when they were jamming in the lounge room (sorry no video!) If you're curious. look them up on You tube.

All sorts of vendors sell everything from food to household supplies like tissues to face painting for the kids and nail art. Something for everyone.

There are a number of huge marquees set up, mainly sponsored by big corporations. These are called fondas (party areas). This one was sponsored by the city, so it was free to enter on the first day. A great atmosphere and lots of fun. Everyone was involved and raring to have a good time.

The set up was different in Ines de Suarez- there were set prices for food and drink.

Small groups of drummers dot the park entertaining the crowds. Note the attachment to the foot. They're very energetic and get a great workout!

Another national drink. It means "Earthquake"! A combination of pisco, wine, grenadine plus other ingredients- all topped with ice cream! It certainly packs a punch! Apparently there's an even more potent brew. It's name?? "Tsunami"!

The parties go all day until midnight. All sorts of entertainment is available, often themed for each day.

This tourist map of the inner city shows I only scratched the surface of what is on offer. It was a great time out before heading further north.

Wonder Woman ?
Hi Treadie Great photos ... ! It is very hard to tie down an adventurous woman .... ! You photos and blogs are akin to your China adventures..... ? Later on in your life, they will be a credible resource to savour, whilst watching the sunset when rocking slowly in a chair on a back porch some where in your favourite part of the world while reviewing your memories on the newest technology device ? I was in Scandinavian Eurohash & UK Nash Hash last month. This Saturday I am on my way to my second visit to Kunming Yunan P R China, for 2013 Indo china Mekong Hash. Keep safe Warmest Wishes Eddie

hi Treadie - just logged in to take a look at your amazing photos of your trip. How long are you travelling for? In your photo "catching up" - that doesn't happen to be Steven Solin from San Deigo - looks suspiciously like a friend of mine too. Travel safe - I shall keep following and enjoying your thread. 23rd October 2013

I was particularly lucky!!
Why? I had been told that the pollution in Santiago spoils any visit, but , even though it was cold, it helped, and there was virtually no pollution the whole of my stay!! It also helped that there was a national holiday for 5 days!!!
23rd October 2013

I feel like I have been lapped by you on the round the world wander!
Great to see you are having a great time travelling and following your heart. I am still homebased in San Diego but will spend the winter (Dec - Mar) ski Patrolling in Utah then on to JazzFest in New Orleans the third year in a row and then looking like spring in Italy, Turkey and the northern Med. Papa Cy still hanging in there and enjoying most days will show him your pictures. We are taking him on a Mexican Riviera cruise from San Diego Dec 21 - 27 then I will depart for UT. Biggest news yet is that Andy & Michelle are pregnant and grandbaby due in April. Yippie! Will we see you here before your return home? All our best, you are a traveling inspiration. Can't wait to compete! Daddy Rabbit
23rd October 2013
