I am so behind again.....it always happens after a spell of being good about keeping up to date...so here we go again.

Punta Arenas is in the very southern tip of Chile. We crossed from Argentina to there to fly back to Santiago & avoid the very long bus trip back up north. So on a rainy Sunday evening we pulled into what looked like a very drab city. Thankfully there was a lady there looking for business. She had a car so we were sold! It turned out quite well because we were the only people staying in her house, so we had a room to ourselves with the heat & smoke pumping upstairs from the stove in the hallway below. Sometimes it´s like we´re on a different planet tough....it wasn´t until the Monday that we realised that the clocks had changed that weekend. Thankfully we discovered before we missed any flights or buses.

It´s amazing how well developed these cities are because they are so remote. It has a port there with a sailor on every corner. I didn´t get myself a sailorman unfortunately....anyway I don´t think I´d make a good sailor-wife....would never be able to keep his whites so pristine!!! A man in a dark uniform maybe...the upkeep is so much easier!!

We didn´t get up to a whole lot there....walked the city & beared ourselves against the rough cutting wind over the 2 nights we spent there. Again another nice plaza was to be found. Actually we visited a lovely house there from the early 1900´s that is now a museum......it was very pretty.

From Punta Arenas we flew to Santiago. We just stayed for the night & early next morning caught a bus to Valparaiso.....a city where the locals go on holidays apparently.
