Chiloé is probably one of the poorest areas in Chile. It´s an Island south of Puerto Montt and it´s known for its wooden Churches and its bad weather:-) No kidding, it rains 200 days a year. But lucky me, the sun was shining (more or less) for the whole time I was there (or lets say, it wasn´t raining. Or at least not for long). For this bit I am just going to put some pic´s in so you can get an idea (am getting a bit tired and running out of stories)...

By the way, the wooden churches are covered with corrugated sheet iron (which is a real sin!!) in order to protect the wood from the moisture

Chiloé ist wahrscheinich eine der aermsten Gegenden in Chile. Es ist eine Insel genau suedlich von Puerto Montt und ist bekannt fuer seine Holzkirchen und das schlechte Wetter:-) Kein Scherz, es regnet 200 Tage im Jahr. Aber ich hatte (mal wieder) Glueck und die Sonne schien (mehr oder weniger) die ganze Zeit (oder sagen wir, wenigstens hat es nicht geregnet! Oder jedenfalls nicht lange).

So langsam geht mir die Motivation und die Stories aus. Ich denke, ihr muesst Euch fuer diesen Abschnitt mit den Bildern zufrieden geben.

Oh uebrigens: Die Holzkirchen sind mit Wellblech verkleidet (welch Suende!) um das Holz vor der Feuchtigkeit zu schuetzen.
