Tis funny how travel itineries can change.. I was stone set that I would only be going to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia but a bit of good map reading (not by me) and my determination to avoid La Paz mean a fifth country got thrown into the mix.. Chile! While the stay was short totalling about 6 days it was still nice to have an extra stamp on my passport and get to experince another South American country. From the two cities I was in - San Pedro de Atacama and Arica - I noticed a big difference from Bolivia and Peru even though the countries border each other. For one the tap water was safe to drink, also whereas it was easy to pick out the tourists before hand Chile consisted of alot of white people. There were supermarkets akin to Europe, there were a greater selection of different shops and the food hygiene was better!

I didnt actually get up to much in either; San Pedro I chilled after Salar de Uyuni to begin then did a 40k cycle round trip to Vallee de La Luna and back (Thus called due to its landscape close resembling that of the moon) and hit a few museums on the Saturday before getting the bus to Arica that night. Arica was beach, beach and more beach! Did a bit of swimming, visted the War Museum and did a bit of shopping on the stalls... purple and gold sunglasses CHECK!

So Ive five weeks done of a fourteen week trip. Therefore thus far:

Highlight - Probably the achievement of completing the four day Inca trail (Its physically tough) though after years trying to be done with exams and studying, I also found studying Spanish in Sucre for a week very enjoyable !

Lowlight - Getting sick in a bin in La Paz airport and 45 mins later in Rurrenbaque airport. Another victim due to suspect La Paz food prep! >;(

Travelling Solo - Was kind of regretting my decision at the start thinking what have I gotten myself into but it has gone suprisingly well since. You quickly learned its better to be chatty and inquisitive meeting new people as opposed to shy or reserved ! I also try initate conversation with at least five new people daily so as to make my
