The most dominant religion in Brazil is Catholic. Catholic began in Brazil when European settlers came to Brazil. They began to build churches and brought religious leaders to Brazil to teach children about Catholicism. In the 19th century, Catholicism claimed to be Brazil's dominant religion. Priests began to get payed by the government to teach people about Catholicism and their beliefs.

Catholic religion was becoming the dominant religion in Brazil once European settlers moved in. They began to teach others about Catholicism, so that when they turned older, they can teach others as well. Once Catholicism became the dominant religion, Brazil's government began to pay priest for teaching others about Catholicism.
