Hey guys!
So for all you doubters that didn´t think we´d make it out the duty free lobby in Heathrow you were wrong!!
In Botafogo in Rio, admittedly did nothing our first day as jet lagged so just wandered around and generally got lost! Note to self - do not wear brand new flip-flops on the beach as your feet get massacred and effect your ability to walk (obviously this was Jemma that this happened to - add this to elephantitus of the foot)!
However we´ve now got our bearings and have given the Japanese a run for their money taking pictures of every building even if we´re not quite sure what it is!
For all you boys you´ll be impressed that on just our second day we went to a Brasilian semi final at the Maracena stadium! Now realise how bad Fulham and every other English teams supporters are - there was like an entire band playing the entire way throughh the game and they tried to recruit Gina as a musician until they realised she has no musical talent!!!
Note for the world cup brasilian footballer dive more than luis boa morte!
Had
heard that there was a cool brasilian drink called Caipriahna - really refreshin lime slush puppy... admittedly with copious amount of vodka so we´re lovin it!
Back to the japanese touristy bit... We´ve been to Sugarloaf mountain at sunset which was amazing - got to see the city and Christ the redeemer both with the sunshine then as the sunset over the statue and all the city lights come on. If we can figure out the computer ther are photos below - if not need to find japanese tourist to ask!
In the evening we ventured out on the metro - note to Jemma do not try and speak portuguese - the cockney accent doesnt work!
Went to Copacabana and had dinner and then sat on the promenade next to the beach indulging in a few more caipriahna! Would love to say its a safe city however we were mugged for our lighter by a bunch of 6 year olds! Which was quite funny until i realised it was the only lighter i actually had!! All in all so far the brasilian have been lovely and really helpful although every time we order 3 of anything we seem
to be getting two - again Jemma´s accent!!
Today went on an excursion and we were one with Christ.. the redeemer that is - So much bigger than we expected and can´t be appreciated until your actually there.
After that we headed to Santa theresa which we had attempted to do yesterday but got scared of randomn groups of people and chickened out! Rode a tram but they obviously didn´t trust us to hang off the side much to my disappointment!! Had my first swim in the sea - yes its taken me four days before i got in - girls didn´t join in as Jemma has scabby feet and well you know gina and fish don´t really mix! Found a friend in some aussie on the trip though so didn´t have to brave it alone!
Plan now to head down the coast to Santa catarina and ilha grande for some sunworshippin - hopefully by then me and jemmas burns will have gone down - yes obviously the scot is a lobster thanks to trekking up a mountain and splashin about like i´d never seen the sea before!!
Feel free to add comments but keep em
clean penny!
Ciao for now
