After some hiking in the Diamantina Canyon I went on to Salvador. It is a beatiful city thanks to its colonial architecture, but pretty unsafe.
Next stop was Minas Gerais, a state in the interior of Brazil. There I went to see Ouro Preto, the most important gold mining town back in the days. Since the town is situated high up in the mountains, temperatures drop down to 5 degrees...
Back in Rio I spent some more days exploring the city, particularly the beaches, together with some friends from Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
After that I went with Lena to Ilha Grande, a very relaxing island 150km from Rio.
Next stop are the Iguazu falls on the Argentine-Brazilian border.
