Here we go again.
Another great time in this wondorous place.
Well Iguassu is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The Falls are their main attraction obviously! The Falls are fantastic, especially the Argentinian side looking accross to Brazilian side. You can see the ferocity and massive volume of water ponding down from the Devils Throat into an oblivion of mist. Reminds me when Superman had to dive into the mist at Niagara to save someone.
Anyway, we arrived at our hotel after a very long journey from Sao Paolo bus terminal. I think 15 hours overnight and that excluded the 5 hour trip from Pâraty to Sao Paolo. We were bolloxed. Didn´t know our arses from our elbows.
On the same day of arrival we went to the Brazilizn side of the falls. Amazing views as we walked along the trek over the river below. We were there for about 4 hours taking picturesque photos and admiring one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. We took a panoramic view from a helicopter! This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip to Iguassu.
We were bet by the time
we got back to the hotel. We all had a lie down for an hour or so. Esteban organised to go out for a few drinks to a local bar nearby. We took it easy as we knew what was ahead of us the following day. A big day at Argentinian side but also a big PARTY / BBQ with other Gap groups in someones back garden which we rented. At this stage I have been starved of some decent conversing with the opposite sex!
So we went onto the Argentinian side. It was spectacular. We took a long board walk after a 15 mins train ride within the national park to reach the Devils Throat! As I said above, amazing site to witness. We also had lunch there and we took a boat ride up underneath one of the smaller falls. The mist hit us so hard that we could barely catch a breath. Everyone in the boat got soaked, but we did go prepared. All our gear was placed in waterproof bags that we carried onboard. The views were obscenely beautiful!
Anyway, a long day had passed. We al headed back to the hotel for a
well deserved sleep!
We woke with renewed enthusiasm, knowing we were to meet 3 other GAP Groups. The party lasted til all ours in the morning. There was an amazing BBQ, cans of beer and also deserts, and how can I forget some great looking women, but to no avail. I have learned my lesson not to get too drunk if you are trying to pull in future. Just doesn´t work for me! :-(
So the folowing day we went to one of the most fantastic man-made structures in the world. Itapu Dam. What a site. This is the second largest dam in the worl d behind Chinas similar type, except this has the largest hydro power output in world. I was facinated by this. I would have loved to get a tour inside the building but time would not have been on our side. So instead we took a 1 hour bus ride around the dam. This Dam produces 70% of Paraguays electricity aswell as 25% of Southern Brazils Electricity. What a stat!
After the dam we headed back to the hotel where we took it easy for the rest of the day. We caught
an overnight bus to Bonito.
Keep looking for next update!
