Hi everyone
Just a quick travelblog to update you on what we have been up to in Salvador before we set off for Morro de Sao Paulo (a small resort on an island 2 1/2 hrs from Salvador).
First day we got here after our hellish journey, we stayed in very cheap hotel (12 pounds inc breakfast for the room). however room was a little grotty to say the least! however we considered it luxury as it had its very own private bathroom! The Next day went exploring around Salvador, which is a lovley place, cobbled streets, brightly coloured buildings and music playing on the streets everywhere, is very much a party city! Also lots of nice (and cheap) bars and restaurants which was nice change from Rio.
Checked into different hotel, a little more expensive but much less grotty. In the evening went for meal and few drinks in nice square with live bands playing. Then to a folkloric show which included traditional dances of people possesed by their Gods! and capoeira ( cross between martial arts and a dance) and also Samba - was very professional show.
Next day we went round beautiful church, however we were lead into it in darkness and a show started (which felt like you were in Alton Towers!) where different parts of the church were lit up and a story was told in Portugese - helpful! In the afternoon went to a nearby beach which was very crowded with locals but nice to soak up some sunshine! Then went out for lovely Italian meal (havent really eaten any Brazilian food as is either very strange looking or expensive so been eating burgers, pizzas and cheese pastys!) Then went to Reggae bar where we felt VERY white! but was fun place, very relaxed.
Off to Morro de Sao Paulo after lunch, should be there by afternoon. May not travelblog for a bit as wil there for a week and not sure if many Internet cafes there as quite remote.
