Hey all!!!... First and foremost CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! to Linda and Tony who are now proud parents to a beautiful baby boy!!!
Cant wait to see pics of the little gremlin 😊
Wow its been a while since i did my last entry huh?.. All i can say was i LOVED Salvador and im sooooooo glad i chose to go there for the Carnival instead of Rio which is where i am at the moment and im really trying hard to like it but before i start bitching about Rio let me enchant you all with Pelourinho in Salvador.
This place simply inspired me and what a bonus it was to be there during Carnival.
The place is full of charm, beautiful old colonial buildings, narrow cobble streets surrounded by colourful art, musicians, locals in their traditional attire, kids playing on the streets happy and cheeky, cute old ladies and men sitting on their steps or hanging out there window watching passer by, Watching Capoeiro's playing ón the squares.
You try so hard not to constantly take pictures but i couldnt help it, pictures perfect postcard, Unfortunately i lost my camera in Rio and now lost some of the
getting my hair braided
What you think guys?.. i look pretty stupid huh?
Oh well for the carnival!!! most beautiful picture of people, capturing their expression and spirit of the moment.
There was so many special magical moments here in Pelo it really is a special place and like always it also the people who i had around me that will make this place one i will cherish always.
I meet so many lovely people at the hostel... all isreali's (it was an Isreali hostel) and the hostel was perfectly located near the centre of Pelourinho but a safe distant away from the constant noise.
Elad taught me to play the Guitar and David the Birren Bau (which i´ve brought and hopefully continue practicing).
The Carnival itself was great, although we enjoyed staying at Pelourinho more because it was less commercial then the main strip in Barra.
In Pelourinho there had more local in beautiful costumes dancing, singing and in general a safer and had a much nicer atmosphere.Being at the comarote was great, free bar on the balcony watching the parade go by...as you can imagine i knocked down quite a few Caiparinas, dancing with locals, watching Reut work her magic collecting so many band-danners and necklaces.
It was so difficult to
finally decide to move on and at times i wished i just stayed there longer instead of going to Rio.
We (David,Reut, Me) decided to go to Caraive i small quaint island half way down towards Rio. hardly any tourist and it was just what we needed to unwind from the Carnival. We got to know a few locals who took us out on the boat through the mangroves in moonlight and to a hill where we ended up singing & dancing under the star.
Unfortunately i was unable to contact my airline to cancel and change my flight so we had to leave sooner than we all like.
Arriving to Rio after or long bus journey, all i wanted to do was get checked in and grab some food. David went to his Capoeiro class which i would have love to join but simply was shattered so Reut and myself decided to head to the beach for a walk. Wasnt too impressed with Copacobana beach but we had a nice long chat as we watch the sun go down but felt that we should head back to the hostel before dark...
Actually i was going
to bitch about Rio but infact it wasnt that bad we had some fun times.
The Christ was absolutely stunning and watching the sunset over Rio was amazing a really shame i lost my camera coming down.
Hand Gliding over Rio...that was totally cool!!!... got chatted to some really friendly OZ and kiwis.
Watching and dancing at a concert up at the Sugar Loaf, seeing Rio by night.
Street Party in Lapa, Dancing to the "CRUE!!!" song with the local.
This song is pure rudeness but such great fun watching the man thrust the hips like hell.
Going with local Favela boys to a party in Favela...some of the guys stayed and went up to the hill with them and witness thing general Gringo will never see. They had to walk through a group of boys who had guns almost the same size as them and with there finger litterally on the trigger.
Hanging out at Yellow Mellow Bar getting wasted on Caiparinas.
Going with David to Capoeiro and getting involved.
I was definitely more annoyed with myself because i wasted so much time with changing my flights and etc and
Reut & Me
Me learning to play the Birren Bau didnt stick to my original plan with venturing outside of Rio.
I got stuck in Rio and by the time i left i felt drained and a little depressed.
Although i was very sad to say goodbye to Reut and David, I really was looking forward to travelling alone again. For over 3 months i have been travelling with people and i can see that im not making as much effort and being very lazy. Its was nice spending some quality time to really get to know them.
Anyhow im now in Mexico, i found myself wondering the streets of Mexico City and felt very tired of it all. Even with the beautiful cathedrals and interesting museums to visit, I decided that im going to head down to Guatamal and get my self registered on a Spanish course, im fed up with not being able to communicate with the locals, im seeing the beautiful sites but im not really getting to know the people.
So that is my mission!!!.
These last few day i meet some lovely Australians and a fellow brit, we visit the Pyramids and went to the wrestling tornament which was totally hilariousm
Playing music on the steps.
We love these steps.. had so many moments singing and dancing with each other and random locals and passer by joining us and there was this one time, actually it was on Chinese New Year, we met some Argentinians whowas part of a band and we spent the night dancing and listening to them play...was soo beautiful, it was raining and we stay and continue playing. we had so much fun and then got absolutely drunk again last night at the roof top bar of the hostel...thats 2 days in a row and this morning bus journey to Oaxaca was a sorry site with us bunch looking terrible.
IM now on DETOX!!!!...no more alcohol!!!!...
IM SO HAPPY!!!!!... MY PARENTS, SIS AND FRIENDS ARE COMING OVER TO NEW YORK TO CELEBRATE MY BIG 30 WITH ME 😊 SO CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM.
