So we finally were able to teach our first VBS today. After all the preparation and practice the ladies group was ready to perform. We began with songs. Emily (Toni's daughter, 13) and Jessica (Bev's daughter, 16) learned an Ayore song and sang it for all of us before we officially got started. They practiced all night last night. It was so cute!

Today's lesson was The Passover Story...such a fun one with so many interesting surprises for the kids.

My absolute favorite part of the lesson was by far the most chaotic...as Suzy told the story in English and Toni translated, the rest of us were waiting anxiously for the part of the story where God plagued Eygpt with FROGS. As Suzy approached this part of the story, we threw hundreds of paper frogs all over the classroom. The kids went wild, some collecting them, some throwing them back and us and others just thrilled to run around the room acting crazy. It was so precious. We were definitely challenged with the task of getting them back in their seats but it was well worth it.

Another amazing part of the day was when Mirtha, Poza Verde's mission teacher, painted all of our nails as a special thank you for being a part of this weeks conference and a part of the children's lives. I must say that the kids are so sweet. They have warmed up to us so quickly. They play with our hair, give lots of hugs and sugar and want to sit on our laps and snuggle up with us. The boys are not as affectionate but want the same level of attention. We played games for hours with them today and saw so many smiles and laughs. They made fun of me as I attempted to speak broken Spanish with my "southern" accent. Anything to entertain, I suppose!
