Some photos from a 3day tour to the south-west part of Bolivia, i.e. Bolivian altiplano. the reddish color of its waters is caused by red sediments and pigmentation of some algae AND the power of wind. if there is no wind the water doesn´t change its colour.

Green Lagoon is a salt lake in the southwest of the altiplano of Bolivia, on the Chilean border at the foot of the volcano Licancabur. Its colour is caused by sediments, containing copper minerals. It is elevated some 4,300 m above sea level.

there were plenty of huge rock formations shaped differently by the wind over thousands of years. it was incredible how quickly the landscape was changing on our way, volcanoes, lagoons, rocks, sand deserts, salt deserts, geysers, hot springs.......

the water had 30 to 33 degrees C - oh, it was great to warm up my frozen bones!
