this has been a mission making my pc crashed twice and i had to upload the fotos twice ...
we took a tour from chile to bolivia across the mountains, deserts and salt flats..
and it was awesome!
we drove to the bolivian border.. whch was just a man in a hut! then met our driver Agape (ahhgahhpay) who was cool,
he couldnt talk any english and was missing a few teeth! he was driving an old toyota land cruiser which would be our transport there was six of us in there me n pat, two ozzys and two germans..
first day we visited 3 lakes.. all different colours! and did a lot of driving in between, mainly across empty rock dessert sourounded by mountains and volcanoes.. we also went swiming at 4,900 meters! n it was as hot as a bath!!
we also listend to Forever young and men down under about four times as agape only had one 80s electro tape!!
we spent the first night by the red lake which was huge!! and had flamingos in.. it was -5 outside and i had 6 big wool blankets and
was still cold! mainly becuase our roof was tin and hessian bags..
the next day we took off, even more ground to cover today.. we drove from 8 till 4 or 5 thats how much desert we crossed each day! stopping for fotos and lunch. we saw rock formations and sulfur pits! we got a puncture and had to change in the middle of nowwhere.. which was where we were for the whole time! there were no signs just old tracks.. from which he´d choose one out of 10 to follow!!
we also discoverd a jack to jack today and so could listen to our own music and between that and buying lots of beer things got louder and faster, agape likes beer not as much as his cocoa leaves which he ate constanly! to concentrate of course..
the scenery started to change as we got into valley with vegatation!! and lots of lammas and the odd house.. (no water, elec or cars)
we stayed on the edge of the slat flats and then drove across them in the morning,
there were so many stars at night, it was beautiful ive never seen
so many before litteraly thousands covering the whole sky and super bright. if u watched for 10 mins you would see a shooting star!! i wish i could have photographed them,..
the salt flats go on forever! 450,000 sq hecters! you cant see the end unless near a mountain, its about a meter deepand was left when a huge lake dried up... it may also have 20 cms of water under it not sure due to poor translation!
we saw the cactus island in the middle of the salt flats coverd in cacti one was 12meters tall and 1,200 years old!!
we also went to where people dig up the salt to sell.. for every 60kgs of salt the get 10p!! not that great a buisness..
then to the train grave yard, lots of old steam trains rustings away!
finnaly we arrived in Uyuni smallish town, where i ate lamma and it was good!
from here we will leave to goto La Paz which should rock!
by the way since we got to S America its been beautiful sunshine a clear skys every day bar one! i could count the clouds ive seen
on one hand!! i love it. hope england is sunny..
for some reason it wont let put up videos and if u want to see the other photos you need to click on a photo and go through them dont try and click on the next page as it doesnt work!
i need a break from the pc
