Teaching Children
At the School House Mum, I know, Im sorry Bolivia was the one place u put your foot down and just said no to... however... If only you could hear the stories about this country, and see the amazing places to visit. It holds so much of south americas ´´gringotrailesqness´´ that i just had to venture on in...
We lost our bus at the border crossing, and the six of us kind of hopped, dashed, panicked our way up the hill wondering wether on not we should be more scared of bolivia or peru in the dark of the night. Irrelevent, as the bus was waiting over the hill for us so we could get our stamps, after sorting out michael and tahnee- aka teaching them about holding onto those deceiving little ´´entry slips´´ when you come into a new country, and topping up on kitkats (the obsession is nearly out of control) we boarded back on the bus for Copacobana.
Managed to find a $1.00 a night hostel, ok so the shower being OVER the toilet was a little inconvinience, and anyone whos met us probably doesnt believe that we didnt shower for three days.. at least i hope they dont!!
Copabana was adorable
Lake Titticata
Daniel, Bonnie, Abby, Michael, Tahnee, Isralie and we decided within 5minutes that we wanted to stay here and just soak in the lake and relax before drilling further into the realms of bolivia.
I was going crazy at the thought of spending $300 bolivianos a day, $50aus, and just couldnt keep my head straight without looking for something new to buy...or eat..ok!!
Organised a tour to Isla De Sol the next day, with a canadian couple, and with abbys amazing bargaining skills (to everyone whos met abby u know what i mean.. cinco cinco cinco!!).
Spent the day drinking many a more fruit juices and browsing between lama hats, to lama scarfs, to pure 100% lama jewlerry (sorry lady but, not even im that daft).
Found an awesome live music bar that night and drank vino blanco away to an amazing jazz band, while mingling with the locals and american chad- who still hates me, girls i know it!!
Isla De Sol is the largest of the islands in lake titticata and is a popular destionation for gringos to do a homestay with a local family- so cool because u get to wear their clothes.
Otherwise you take the boat out there, walk to the ruins
and have the option to walk from the south side of the island to the north, where the boat collects you in the afternoon.
We squeezed, prodded and shoved our way to the very front of the boat on the 2hour journey over to island, where... it was bitterly cold and after causing such a scene to get there we were forced to stay and look ridicolously like snowmen in every warm item we´d thought to bring... or abby was prepared to lend us anyway.
We then made the executive descion that we were hardcore enough, and actually didnt need to walk the island, it was a whole 8kms to far, so we´d be plenty happy with the ruins. After everyone on the boat hissed and booed us, we managed to carry our heads high and i gave a few ´´Have fun with that!!´´s.
Eh. So. After a leisurly breakfast in a locals house, and brief break in to the school house- where we fell in love with the boys and their teacher ways all over again- we trecked the 45minute walk to the ruins, and mid way realised that we´d have to hightail it back to get the boat...
Injury
Yes it was quiet serious... Right before i stubbed my toe (need i mention the havainas again?) and took the top off it, FYI altitude makes u bleed like a beast.
Got to the ruins, decided it was to beautiful not to walk the rest of the way, and what was a mere 3hours?? Ahhh nearly my death bed, turns out was the answer!!
It was brutual, and i mean BRUTUAL, up hill after hill after hill, for an entire 8ks in flip flops, and the raw sun.
Anyway we made it to the end, not before abby fell over trying to take pictures of donkeys (who had the last laugh), and cactused her hand.
However we made it on the boat, slept, and awoke back to the beauty of copacobana. awesome!!
I should mention at this point that the island was superbly stunning, and yet again a complete moment in awe of it being just that, an island. The water was sparkling blue, and every piece made u think of a glistening diamond. There were secret coves on every corner, and each piece made you think this truly could be the incredible med.
That night we girls had our first taste of Bacardi Lime
Pre Bacardi Lime
Good times were had by all
ps. that drummings doing real well.. and subsequently got ridicolously wasted, yes boys, before 10pm, tahnee took the top of HER toe- we had to match right? Which was all very dramatic, and absolutly hilarious at the same time...´´i cant open the door..´´.
Miggel threw up in the street, bless him, we laughed until we helped him out.
It was the introduction of...
COME THE FUCK ON SENOR!!- i wanted pancakes pretty bad... And a night im sure we´ll never forget.... will we boys!!
Left Copacobana the next day for La. Paz, with our soon to be new friends Chris, Ed and Sarah.
So not excited about laaaaaaaalaaa ewwww. But couldnt be more excited about the girls, and the danish boys.
xoxo
