Apologies for the delay - Argentina (the vagaries of pre-trip planning)

After an unnecessarily prolonged absence Ive managed to find myself some time to get updating, so here goes with Argentina.

Our time in Argentina really brought out the best in our pre-trip organisational planning. Pre-trip we had decided that we didn want to do the Iguazu Falls which border Argentina and Brazil so to save time we flew from Rio to Buenos Aires (BA) via Santiago, which geographically is like flying to Germany from the UK via Spain. The problem which then arose came when we arrived in Buenos Aires:
How long are you here for - the common question,
About 7 days - the reply
OOh...youll run out of things to do - the response, always swiftly followed by have you done Iguazu? Its the best thing weve done in S.America so far
So with our plans in tatters we considered going to visit these falls, but thought wed see what the guide bvook had to say about them. The Rough Guide to S America turned out to be equally as ambivalent in its description of Iguazu, saying that they far outstripped any other sight in South America and were by far the most amazing, brilliant, fantastic, stupendous falls in the world, or words to that effect. So, having heard all of the superlatives the English language had to offer, and having flown from Brazil to Argentina via Chile we then took an 18 hour coach back in the direction wed come. We stayed in Puerto Iguazu for a day and half...and then took a 20 hour coach back to BA. But was it worth it? Was the flippant use of superlatives justified? In this case it seemed to be. We had a great time. We took a speed boat ride into the falls, and happened to be there at a high-water time so the volume of water was astonishing and the falls were covered with rainbows and, of course, spray. Conclusion - if you
e planning to go to this part of S America, plan to go to Iguazu. If you don youll end up there anyway.

As well as the falls we also sampled some of the local Argentinian cuisine i.e. meat...on a platter with red wine. We went to a restaurant recommended for said meat platters, and ordered the four person platter (rather than two person) between the three of us. Needless to say (the weak) Akshay and Ben started to tire as the fourth steak went onto their plate. Not being one who likes to see food go to waste food I ploughed on, leaving only the more stomach-turning tripe, liver and kidney parts of the platter untouched. Ben said my performance was one of the sickest things hed ever seen. I, on the other hand, rather enjoyed the experience. It was just a shame I had trouble walking for around...two days afterwards.
