Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, only 1000km from Antarctica. After our epic journey from Chile we were glad to finally arrive in a place with more than two shops open and not to be the only people walking around in the streets!

We got a boat out into the Beagle channel to see the Les Eclaireurs lighthouse, and went past small islands full of sea lions and cormorants. The highlight though was undoubtedly our trip to a penguin colony, where we walked around the island where the penguins were nesting and saw them up really close. We also went for a walk in the Tierra del Fuego national park, and saw some amazing scenery. The temperature reminded us how far south we were, especially in the evenings it was freezing!

Although quite tourist orientated (you canĀ“t move for "End of the world" and penguin souvenirs!), Ushuaia is still a nice place to spend some time with some good bars and restaurants which we enjoyed sampling.
