Cafayate Bodega (Winelands)



We spent an incredible three nights in cafayate on route to bolivia. Cafayate is the second famous Winelands region of Argentina, known for its white torrents grape. We made sure to sample some of the wines and on advice from our super friendly hostel owners, nadine and federer we rented bikes and cycled to Domingo mortelina bodegas which overlooked the entire region and spent the afternoon sampling delicious wines and getting quite tipsy which made the 6km cycle home rather interesting.

So things have gotten a bit warmer?
Hi Robyn and John, So things are heating up a bit - over theeeere in Argentina. Quite a contrast to icy mountains and glaciers of Patagonia and ?? Calafata. The desert looks wonderful but those photos of you in the canyons made me think ... perhaps you've wandered into a sort-of desert-time-machine? because you look like a pair of hippies from the sixties: John's shaggy hair and beard and Robyn's hippie head-scarf. You're obviously having a great time and look really relaxed. I can't believe that they manage to grow grapes in that desert environment. Must produce some very sweet wine. Anyway, keep the photos and news rolling. Great to read about the weird and wonderful places that you're visting. Love you lots, Mom

wine, how was it
We opened the bottle from South America that Gav and shan gave us when they were with us in Pilanesberg. It was great.

Nice I am sure it tasted amazing! We loved the wine in Argentina and the steaks were incredible. No sauce jus thick huge and mouth wateringly juicy.
