We were able to have lunch with my cousin Sergio and his daughter Abril along with his wife. Beto Lydia´s husband grilled up some very deliscious Asado or steak. He did this on the grill outside using his own mix or version of Argentine Chimmichurri Sauce...-basil, oregano, parsley, olive oil, sweet red peppers and some very hot water...needless to say it was quite deliscious! We also had some sausages along with a very tasty salad that was served of course with oil and vinegar...
The conversation was quite varied and mom did an excellent job of translating as Katie and I are still working on our spanish...Sergio talked of his job and he spends close to 15 hours a day working in the landscaping business that he
runs...that is why we were lucky to see him today during the normal siesta time, he basically was off for 2 hours from 1 to 3pm...his wife, Marina also was off at the same time and she works all day at a retail shop in Villa Regina...normally she is at work until as late as 9pm...I found out that she is french but does not speak any french, she does have a brother I think she said that lives in France, i will have to double check? Interesting that she would be here as I know there are a lot of italians in this area but was not aware of a french presence...Mom had commented that there are a lot of Bolivians opening shops and businesses in the area these days...
Abril had just gone through her first communion which was a very big deal and mom was able to attend this past weekend...she is attending the fifth grade Sergio and Abril
corns that did not have corn but looked a bit like corn but were made of sugar, lol. We gave her a very big bag which she was going to share with her school mates!
We talked about yesterdays adventures at La Islera, the apple processing plant just a short distance from the house my mom grew up in...today we are going to Sergio´s house where his wife is preparing very special cantoloni´s with spinach and <-¿
Katie and I are feeling very blessed as we are obviously getting to experience a piece of the area that not too many tourists would ever experience...everyone is very welcoming and there is always a discussion of the past when
