Foreground- Argentina; Left- Paraguay; Right- Brazil!

3 - 4 Marzo 2009

In a taco shell...
The red earthed tropics where Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil meet and where the world drops away over breathtaking waterfalls!

In transit...
16 hour overnight bus mission from Buenos Aires- our first Cama Ejectivo experience! Business Class on wheels!

Digs...
Puerto Iguazu Hostel- Air conditioning in our room and a pool- need we say more?

We came, we saw...
We lost our minds at the sight of the Iguazu Falls in Parque Nacional Iguazu.
We made the most of our day and hiked all accessible parts of the park, even those less travelled- SPECTACULAR!
Lauren even thought she heard a JAGUAR on our trek off the beaten path!
We stood at the edge of Argentina and gave our regards to Brazil and Paraguay- Brazil, we will see you again. Paraguay, maybe another time...

City Highlights...
Butterflies! Never seen so many brightly coloured butterflies!
After endless walkways and bridges, coming face to face with the most amazing of the falls- Garganta del Diablo (The Devils Throat)!!!

City Lowlights...
Oppressive tropical heat and humidity- it was a bit of a sweat fest and it made for heat exhauistions and delusions that diving off waterfalls might be a good idea.

Mental State...
Hot, but so excited- Waterfalls and Butterflies are an amazing combination! Magical place.

Soundtrack...
Abba- thanks purely to the bus screening Mama Mia on the way there. Could not get those songs out of our heads!

Flavours...
Cheap and ridiculously huge pizzas!

No comprendo...
Was it a jaguar? If only we spoke jaguar, we would have known for sure...

Iguazu Falls- Gargantua Del Diablo

"Gargantua Del Diablo" loosely translates as "The Devil´s Throat", and that´s kind of what you think of as the world falls away over the edge of the falls. The ferocity, noise and spray is something else.
