GARGANTA DEL DIABLOGARGANTA DEL DIABLOGARGANTA DEL DIABLO

´the devils's thoat´
After we realized that making it all the way to Tierra del Fuego with the rest of our time (and money) was near to impossible, we opted to stay in northern South America. We had not expected to see Iguazu Falls, on the border of Argentina and Brazil, but it became a destination with our altered plans.

We hired a taxi to take us across the border of Paraguay, thru a sliver of Brazil, and then into Argentina. The town of Puerto Iguazu is the gateway for visiting the falls on the Argentinean side. The taxi let us out by the bus terminal, it started to pour down rain, we threw on our rain jackets and found a hostel. The town itself caters to the tourist crowd so there were plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from...which translates to Brett asking ¨How many steaks can I eat in a day?¨ and Sarah responding with ¨I hope you get sick...but can we order a bottle of red wine?¨

The next day we jumped on a bus to the falls. Since Iguazu wasn´t part of our initial itinerary we hadn´t seen any photo´s and didn´t really know what to expect. But we still don´t think if we had been prepared or had seen photo´s we would have been any less impressed. The falls were amazing! We wandered around the park and checked out all the different views and a lot of the 200 + waterfalls.

Apparently the view from the Brazil side is just as amazing, however, when we tried to cross into Brazil we were turned away because we didn´t have the proper visa. We were short on time and decided to forgo getting the Brazilian visa and visiting the falls from that side.

Unfortunately, we don´t have any photographic evidence of us going over the side of Iguazu Falls in a barrel (we didnt want to get the camera wet) but trust us...it was awesome!
