Drenched by the falls
July 16th- We have been in BA for over a week now and we have basically just been walking the city, enjoying the food, tango, and views in this eccentric city. Currently we are in the Iguazu Falls area...right on the border of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay....
July 17th We visited the falls today and went in a high speed boat that took us right up to the base of the falls. We got soaked! The spray from the falls was so strong we had to cover our faces and I still lost a contact lens...luckily I had a spare! What an amazing sight and experience. You can literally stand on the edge of the falls due to all the walkways and platforms they have built up. Makes me wonder how long it will take for the erosion to claim these platforms like it has the edge of these falls...glad it didn´t happen when we were there! After the boat ride we hiked to the top of the falls and on to a raft where we silently floated downstream to observe some nature...ended up seeing a few exotic birds (including toucans!...but they didn´t have any Guiness...), a caiman (small alligator), and

In the speed boat
these anteater-racoon-like animals (can´t remember their name...). Anyway, half way through this relaxing, but cold float down the river we experienced why they call this a RAIN forest...it started pouring! We were completely soaked...but it added to the experience anyway. After the chilly ride back to the town of Puerto Iguazu we got to the hostal, dried off, and chilled out in this giant hostal we are staying at. It has a pool, huge kitchen and bar, pool tables...pretty cool, IF IT WAS SUNNY!
We are really missing the CA sun right now!
Tomorrow it is back to Buenos Aires, then off to Colonia, a small colonial town in Uruguay. May try to get to Montevideo, but don´t know if there will be time. We are looking forward to some warmer weather in Costa Rica next week.
Sorry about the lack of pictures, the computers in Puerto Iguazu kinda suck. Will add some pics in the next couple days...
I finally added the pics...and a video. Enjoy.
