Hallo zusammen!
Viele liebe Gruesse

Hi there!
After a couple of very exciting days in Buenos Aires we decided to start our journey through Argentina - our first destination was the cosy Mendoza. The night trip in a first class bus was pure luxury especially compared to our experiences in Nepal and India :-) The seats are comparable to the business class and you get a decent meal with a glass of wine and some champagne - really great service!
Mendoza itself is a relatively small and quite city with lots of nice places! The first day we spent wondering around the city with fantastic weather. We spent some time on the ´Plaza Independencia´and its 4 bordering ´side-´plazas. We also had a nice walk through the ´Parque San Martin´a huge recreational area with a nice lake. We just
enjoyed the nice weather and the lively atmosphere! We have to say Mendoza is a cute little city with lots of charme, but it is probably even nicer during summer time!
The plan for the next day was to visit some of the famous wineries around Mendoza. We hopped on a local bus and the first winery we visited was the bodega ´La Rural´ with its famous wine museum, which is the biggest in South America. It offers a very interesting tour (Unfortunately just in Spanish, but you still can understand at least the context :-) about the historical wine production in Mendoza. The final part of the tour was a wine degustation where we tried some of the best wines of the bodega. Afterwards we visited two other wineries in the area and spent a fantastic day with lots of sun in Mendoza´s wineyards. In the evening we went to a nice tapas restaurant to close this great day accordingly :-)
Our plan for the third day in Mendoza was a day trip to the ´Cerro Aconcagua´, the highest mountain of the Americas and to the ´Puente del Inca´. We started our trip (4.5 h in a
local bus) early in the morning with nice weather and we were looking forward to some trekking in the Andes. The bus ride went through an impressing landscape (very nice mountains) and we saw lots of lamas :-) on our way! Shortly before we arrived the weather changed suddenly: We were in the middle of a snow storm and the temperature dropped to at least minus 10 degrees!!! Therefore we had to give up our trekking plans, because you could neither see the ´Cerro Aconcagua´nor the way to it! We still went to see the ´Puente del Inca´(a natural bridge that emerged through erosion and spans the Rio de las Cuevas) although it was freezingly cold, but at least we wanted ´to tick´ one of the items on our list :-) The rest of the time we spent freezing and waiting for the return trip to Mendoza :-( All in all we spent 9 hours in a bus with almost no results, but lots of frustration :-( But you can not always be lucky!
Early the next morning we went on our way to San Juan but more about that later on :-)
Take care
Andrea & Adrian
