Paar dagen in Puerto Madryn en Puerto Piramides geweest. Was echt heel bijzonder. Hoe vaak zie je tijdens een strand wandeling walvissen? Hier echt vaak. In puerto piramides op een boot geweest. Kon ze echt ... read more

Wow, ok, so it has been 22 days since my last update. Eeeek! Where do I start....why do I do this to myself..... I left off the last blog with some mixed feelings regarding heading to Buenos Aires before or after Iguazu Falls (from Salta). I decided to hop on the bus the very next night and head straight to Buenos Aires to visit my Irish buddy Martin. It was a good 20 hr bus ride but a comfortable one cuz I had my favorite seat....the first row on the top of the bus that has nothing but a large window infront. :) Many choose to not take this seat for the obvious reason of it being a rather unsafe place to be if the bus got into an accident. I am glad many think safety ... read more

We spent three days in Puerto Madryn, a seaside town near Peninsula Valdes, Argentina's best marine wildlife viewing area. And we had an absolute blast! We stayed at a little homestay kind of place, with a little old lady running it who was absolutely lovely. It was great until the second day when Hazel broke a lamp in our room, and we spent the next 36 hours chewing our nails and wondering how to explain it to the lady. In the end she was quite a darling about it, and we got away paying for it and not having to sell all our jewellery to meet the payment. We spent a couple of days doing dive courses and open water dives and it was great. One of our dives we had a very friendly and inquisitive ... read more

Apart from a real and deep friendliness the most obvious character trait we´ve noticed abut the Argentines is their abiding love of bureaucracy; a 5 day stay at a campsite with swimming pool use and fridge rental took 4 visits to ADMINISTRATION to fill in the required forms and then separate trips to the payment desk to give money to the very important lady. At the post office we were told it was only possiblre to send a parcel to England between 9.30 and 11.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. To use the public swimming pool in Buenos Aires it was compulsory to visit the doctor to be checked for nits and fungal infections between the toes - just like schooldays!! Little surprise that unemployment has plummeted from 25% to 10%. Since our last blog entry, ... read more
