30th July 2010: The group leaves school at about 1.40 pm to Heathrow (there was just time, for a quick visit to 'duty free' for the all important earphones). This trip is the culmination of fund-raising for the orphanage 'Hogar el Alba' just outside Buenos Aires. The flight is split into two ie London to Madrid (where we have a few hours to wait) before the long haul to Buenos Aires where we are due to arrive at 8.00 am. We hope to get some sleep en route especially as rumour has it that our flight into BA is without entertainment or food!

Fund raising has involved sales at my parish church and asking parishioners, family and friends for donations - including some baby-sitting. Everyone was so very generous. A huge THANK YOU to all those who have helped me to raise money for this school partnership project. Part of the money has already been used to help fix the drains and the rest will be for the general running of the orphanage.

As a group we take stationery, paint supplies and toys for the children and are offering to do whatever is needed during our two-week stay. Here is a link to the orphanage which tells its history: http://www.hogarelalba.com.ar/institution/42.html
