No more than 15 minutes away from Buenos Aires, there is that little town called Tigre, which half of it is built on the Delta. This part is only accessible by boat and there is about 4000 people living there. This does not include all the porteños (the standard nickname for a resident of Buenos Aires) who own a house ther and come for the week-end. Its a bit like the knok-le-Zout for the Brusselers :-)
Its a crazy labyrinthe of 'waterroads´ and the inhabited part is no bigger than 1/100 of the entire Delta. All the rest is virgin and totally isolated although so close from BsAs. I have been told by a guide we met that the Delta´s surface is about a third of Belgium. Its a lovely place except that between 3 and 5 pm, the mosquitoes don´t give you a chance.

Those boats are very fast, deliver the mail and are very cheap for the residents
