School
Always all smiles, as i say better laugh than cry, and somtimes, with my pronouciation, you got too want to cry. I´m well, starting to get abit of routine, in my life, which is good. A typical day thus far has consited of getting up about 9, having breakfast, grabbing a coffee on the way to school. I spend 2 hours one - on - one, with my teacher, which is challenging but imensily rewarding, then lara, the other student at the school, comes and we ahve 2 hours of group lessions, then we finish 2ish. Then there is ussally, some lunch, wondering around to do a few thing, maybe going and seeing a sight, maybe getting on the interenet. Somtimes there is a sleep before dinner. Dinners 10 or latter, then ussually head out to a pub about 1ish, get home 4 ish, chat to some people at the hostel, then start over again. On monday i go to a homestay, whihc will be interesting and will be good for my spanish. I´m actually relaly enjoying learning the language, and i´m trying really hard, like ordering food, drinks in spanish, organising internet in spanish, I can say how old I am. It´s ussually a bit of a challenge, but I smile and all seems to be good. Alot of people seem
The steets of BA
This is just outside my hostel. The city looks like this, and buses fly along these streets, with the sole intent of scaring as many pedestrians as possible. really happy that i´m leaning there language, and quite enjoy me stutering along, then feverishly, pulling out my note book, when i can´t remember what the word is. It´s amusing, but the laugh and smiles ussually blag it through for me.
BA, is a city that has alot to offer. When I first got here, I really missed the open spaces of back home, and this is espically because I´m right in the center of town, and there arn´t even any trees. But i´m starting to get to know the suburbs a bit, and there are some nice parks, and a wide variety of things to see. I´m looking forward to one weekend ducking out to town, to get some open spaces, away from the hustle and bustle of BA. I think also that i might go to monovideo for a weekend as well. BA is very much so a night time city, espically since dinner´s usually at 10. I´m having alot of fun meeting people at the hostel. The first week it was good because I meet Lara, who was also studing spanish, and we hung out alot together, and formed quite close friendship. She was always good
Don´t even think about it David
They have these little police buggies for the shopping plaza´s. Note the keys, it was tempting... but no, bad idear :) lol. for a laugh, which suited me perfectly. We had this game, where when we got to the hostel, we would give a funny name for the intercom´, say hugo Chavez, or Mona Lisa, or bart simpson, somtimes they would just laugh, somthimes there like what the. Either way we were always in histerics walking in. It was really good becuase i think we kinda brighten up peoples lives, like just so much smiling and laughing.
The frenchies, Ben and Charlette, left, on Wednesday, which was kinda sad, because they were good company, but all is good. they were intersting people, and I really enjoyed learning from them. Also they left like speakers and a jumper behind, so score. (Ben if your reading this many many thanks). Anyhow, Now there is an English couple, which are pretty cool, and also like some other english travelers, plus there are some nice ladies from Peru, so theere´s plenty of company to keep me out of trouble (or in it which ever way you wnat to read it)
Today, Lara left which was sad 😞 (orrrr poor me, lol) as we had connected well. It´s interesting how people when traveling seem to
Don´t even think about it David
These shopping streets, are more like New York than what you imagine BA would be. Lots of leather Jackets, Nike, ect. note the macca´s argggg, that really shits, me, espically when they have the best beef in the world, why would you want a mig mac. mange to achive close friendship so quicky. I think it´s because there are similar thematic concerns for travellers. Alot of people who I meet traveling have a really well developed socal conciounes, I´ve only meet one racist travler, but he was a yank (no offense to american´s, as i´ve meet alot of nice ones... but..you guys did vote bush in twice lol) so it´s excusable. Also I think travellers, are keen to learn, and are really open minded, in general i think people who travel spread good karma, so maybe this is why sometimes they bond so well. Anyhow enough of my life therioes, or else I´ll end up writing a book. But there will be an upside, to Lara leaving. Enter sleep..... somtimes I wonder what that is 😊, to much coffee (no such thing ehh, lol), too much conversation, arrrrrggg, but all is good. Also I will get to spend more time taking photo´s, keeping this blog upto date, reading. Anyhow, I went for a walk, chatted to some people, took some photo´s, had a really weird experiance. I´m walking along, smiling to people, and there´s a couple of guys on the street, and old lady leaving a
Meet the meat of BA.
Now that´s what i´m talking about. You get a steak sandwich for like 1usd, and there good, like proper good hey? building. I kinda wait to let the lady come out, and smile. These guys start yaking to me in spanish to me. So i stop, turn my music off, and try and talk. I don´t know what got said apart from si, grasious, si.... i manage to say estude espaneo, si quantro semanos Bunas Aires, ehh umm muchos gusto, they say si grasious, I say, de nada. For non spanish people that, i´m an spanish student, 4 weeks in BA, and nice to meet you, they say thanks, i say your welcome. Mind you while doing this, i´m furiously looking though my notes that i carry with me. It was pretty funny. Anyhow, I walked away, leaving them behind, smiling, probably confused, but feeling good. It was a special moment. Writting about it does not do it justice, but ehh.
Tommorow, some of the english guys, have invited me to a fair so i think I´ll go along with that, shoud be fun, I think the peru´s chicks are coming as well so it should be good. The other thing that is coming up for me, is i´m going with my spanish teacher to a childrens hospital, which should be really good, and also to visit a heap of homeless family´s. Hopefuly my attempts at talking can give them a smile, or some hope. I don´t know, I jsut want to see it, understand it, and try and make them feel somehow better. Anyhow stay turned for the development´s.
Anouther thing, is my spanish teacher is ab fab. Apart from the fact that she really really knows her stuff, she is just a really good person. She has alot to do with her church, and does alot of charity work. If anyone that´s reading this is coming to South America and wants some lessons, I recomend her strongly. Her web address, is www.buenosairescentre.com.ar . I´m looking forward to getting to know her better, and i think somtimes we´ll proably, take the class out of the room, maybe on a bus or to a coffee shop, I don´t know, but looking forwardly (blindly? lol) to the next 3 weeks.
Anyhow enough for now, looking forward to hearing from people back home.
Best karmic wishes to the world.
