If you like big cities you'll love Buenos Aires along with loads of tourist that arrive every year. It's got the personality of a playful youth with the sophistication of a fine wine. ( a favorite beverage in all of argentina) Buenos Aires city known for steaks and tango has much to offer even to a wandering vegetarian that doesn't dance much. The city has many public parks, large art filled plazas, unique neighborhoods with differing personalities. There's a large cafe scene with nightlife galore that pumps until the sun comes up. A city of atleast 10 million, I truly enjoyed Buenos Aires, there is to much to do or see in the total of two weeks I was there. I will describe some of the highlights while in the city that never sleeps.
As I do when I get to most major cities is take several self guided walking tours. This helps me orient myself as well as see insights into neighborhoods away from the crowds. Well doing this I went to the ecological area filled with green space with several trails on the edge of the city and the Plato river. The next day I walked to

Boca neighborhood the trendy neighborhood of Palermo with its hip cafes, restaurants and shopping. From Palermo I walked back to the city center where i was staying at the Florida youth hostel. On the walk back I went through many parks including botanical gardens, Japaneese gardens, and a planetariam. Then into the very fancy neighborhood of Recoleta. A reminder of beverly hills back in California. Here there is a nice weekent artisan market and the fanciest cemetary ever seen which holds Eva Peron and other presidents, military leaders and wealthy citezens. A really nice day out with sore feet to prove it. I spent a wild ST. Patricks day with a few ozzy's a mike tyson look alike and a veryry fun Irish girl, Ruth, all on a street full of english and irish pubs. The party spilled out into the street. Another highlight was meeting a local girl Victoria who I met 2 years back in Panama. We had good conversation about cultural differences, politics, travelling and much more in here exellent english. Two most memerable highlights of my time in Buenos Aires was a football (soccer) match I went to with the Kiwi's, MIke who invited and the girls Clem

Boca neighborhood and Anna who i'd been travelling with since my time in Uruguay. The match was an intence time of singing songs. dancing, waving flags. drumming and flares. A true cultural experience. By accident we got in the section with the true fans that were most intence standing behind a 20 ft razor wire fence. The other experience that was special was La Bomba Tiempo, A 17 piece orchestrated drumming circle. The venue itself was unique in an open air wherehouse type area. Filled with many tourist and locals alike, the music was very good about 20 minute songs each time with a new conductor who always got the crowd jumping. Seen many drum circles but nothing like this. An amazing experience. Buenos Aires was a wonderfull place to conclude my 5 month journey of South America. A most memerable place that won't be forgotten.
After a week in BA I went to Argentinas close neighbor Uruguay, here I spent a day in the capital Montevideo, a great week at the beach town of Punta De Diablo, and one night in Colonia. Montevideo was a pleasant place, a nice old city with good architecture. Nothing overly special though for a

Easter dinner at steak house with Kiwi's backpacker. Where I really enjoyed myself was at the small beach town on the atlantic coast Punta de Diablo. Wonderful beaches, seafood, and relaxed lifestyle as all people casually cruise the dirt streets in bathing suits and sandals. What made the place was the group of people I was spending time with. A real close group that did many things together, from beach hopping, social bbq's, community dinners, bonfires, and local jugs of some grape alcholic drink for the cheap. I haven't enjoyed such great company and as many laughs in awhile ( maybe since friends and family back in US) The time flew by although not much was done other than walk the sandy beaches and enjoy friends. A common phrase was " i'll stay for just one more day" I used it a few times. To end Uruguay I followed the two Kiwi girls back to Colonia an old port city for a night then back to Buenos Aires for a few more days, before all three of us flew out to separate locations of this beautiful Earth. I want to thank all those who have been following and those that I have met while along my travells
