That was officially the most “I’m on edge about the bus crashing”, 30hours of my life, but hey we made it, and even met some crazy people along the way.
Buones was kicked in with a stint at the Hilton Hotel, thanks so so so so so so much to Sharon, Steve and George- can´t wait to meet you all and tell you how amazing your daughters are.. plus all the ways they make me laugh which maybe you wont find so funny but….!!
If you´ve ever felt a little lower than those around you in any situation, I challenge you to walk into a Hilton Hotel with a 20kg backpack on, clothes stained in blood, hair matted in dirt and even more of your own, or someone else’s blood, and eyes so bloodshot you look more stoned than bob- at his best.
We managed to stain the bath with a permanent ring of dirt after not having showered since the accident.. but ahh the joy of bathing was incredible!!
The shock to arrive in B.A, after seeing nothing but Boliviness for the past month was just.. Surreal. There it was, the most European city in the world outside
Our Mate
Dave from England, very lovely man of Europe, awaiting for us to devour it.
The cable T.V was a big temptation, but we spent the next few days lounging by the pool, taking so many beauty treatments that I began to look like Paris (ok..kind of..not really..) And, of course, eating at Hooters.
When we finally moved out of hotel paradise, we went to an area of B.A called ´Palermo´, which I officially force anyone who goes to Buones, to stay in. It was just stunning, so many gorgeous restaurants and the shopping was literally out of this world. Its quiet possible that Tahnee may never have returned from the realms of shop after shop if we´d left her there alone.
The week in Palermo existed only for sushi (serious addiction), shopping at night markets, viewing possibly the phattest storm I’d ever seen in MY LIFE, and of course, drinking bottles of $2 vodka.
Partied with Michael from St. Kilda, missing you kid and our Mt. Scrotum jokes hahaha.
Opera bay welcomed us back, and we met up with Niv and Lehron from Israel, which was really cool, and I’m sorry I laughed at your serious dancing boys!
There was always the nagging;
“we should be doing something about christmas lunch” feeling. But at each and every corner there was some piece of new meat to be eaten..
Palermo was however, a dream that had to come to an end and we were eventually shafted from the rooftop (Girls, and Michael YES I am leaving out half of the story but thank-you AGAIN for carrying my bag Pastrie, I honestly really appreciate it. And to Abby for packing it; shalom), and forced to move across town into the city to that quaint little place known as Millhouse Hostel.
Ahh yes, the return to drunken nights, every night, and sore feet from so much freaking dancing. However, we were meeting Tahnee’s 19 year old brother Kyle here, and the boys were also there so we had to make our team one again.
Had an amazing time at the hostel, however never rose before 1pm, and then after that didn’t do much but sit in the sun working the tan, preparing for the copa...copacobana.
Partied at Lost, which was my first R&B club, and what an experience that was!! Sweat like you´ve never sweated before I think.
Got devoured in a gigantic
Aby in the storm
No-One said it rained in Uruguay!! foam mess at Sunset, which was the hugest, most bizarre club I’ve EVER been to, and met Maradona. Who ok, so apparently is known as ´the hand of god´, me, being Australian, (or just a girl maybe?) had no idea who this was, and when I heard someone say
“MARADONAS HERE!!”, I literally started screaming “MADONNAS HERE!! WHAT?? THATS CRAZY!! OH MYGOD!!''.
Yeap no.. I nearly got my face slapped by every boy there. At least I know now hey? But Abby I did find your thongs, and thanks to the American for all the vodkas!
Struggled through B.A as I’d already done everything in my TWO (love this city!!) previous visits, however it was nice to back, and even nicer with the company we had. Danish, I love you kids!!
Christmas eve we partied at Pacha, its no Croydon let me tell you, and met some cool Aussie boys, who as we all know, were 19 and actually really shit.
Christmas day was really fun, had a wikked lunch and awesome crew to celebrate with.
Abby and I decided to immerse ourselves in South Americaness right before Christmas and head off to Uruguay for the day,
A happy hilton christmas
in front of our living room tree which was a brilliant plan until we got off the boat and it started pouring and then produced a gigantic wind storm, followed by hail. We sat and ate pizza while we cried about all the money we’d spent to get here, which turned out to be for literally- a stamp.
It then cleared up and we had an awesome day exploring the tiny quiet town of Colonia, drinking beer and wandering along the beach. Am really glad we went, even if it was just to get back to the reality of daylight!
Next we all fly to Rio, for New Years on the Copacabana with the Black Eyed Peas and John Legend. Should be one to remember, and I’d better meet Fergie that’s all I can say...
Love always, Bons xox
