We stayed in Rotorua for a few days, travelling down via Auckland...8 hours on a bus great! Our first impression hit us as soon as we walked off the bus...it smelled like rotten eggs! Rotorua is one of New Zealands most dynamic thermal areas hence the smell due to the release of sulphur...not particularly pleasant but it does mean lots of thermal pools in which to soak at the end of the day! ... read more
