... while tour operators claim that Halong's waters are pristine, because all the boat supposedly store sewage in tanks and deposit it at a processing facility, others tell a different tale. With the number of boats plying the bay and the nonexistent turnaround time between cruises, I tend to believe that they would just dump it overboard. I was happy to simply dip my feet in the sea - risking foot fungus is better than risking a a rash covering my entire body!
