Memorial to the Children of Sarajevo ...

... it's easily forgotten that, of the 10,000 Sarajevans killed during the siege, 1,600 of them were children. The sculpture in the middle of the fountain is meant to be a sandcastle that will never be completed, a symbol of the young lives cut short by the war, and along the perimeter of the fountain are footprints of the younger siblings of the children killed.
