Our Saviour ...

... we ended up driving down a narrow, one-way road that dead ended at the water. There was no place to make a U-turn, except for a concrete slab that we tried to back on to, until locals waved us away in a panic - it was the top of a little concrete shack, that probably couldn't handle the weight of the car! The only alternative was to back the car up a significant distance through this narrow, crowded, and steeper-than-it-looks lane. One of the locals offered to take the wheel and back it up for us, when he saw me struggling to avoid the various obstacles, and when he was probably tiring of the smell of my burning clutch! You can tell the guy does this all the time, as he expertly weaved his way up the road all in one go, not even pausing to breathe, let alone needing to stop and check where he was relative to other cars, trees, people, etc.
