The Next Round ...

... the best part of tonight's meal was the incredible tomato sauce served with both the meat balls and dolmades. The sauce was so good that it actually masked the nasty medicinal taste of the grape leaves in the dolmades. The calamari was surprisingly tender given that it was frozen, but the batter lacked any crispness to it; in the centre of the calamari ring is a shrimp croquette, not bad though a bit gooey inside. The stewed lamb was decent as was the grilled halloumi, which was served with lountza, a smoked Cypriot ham. The sardines were like they always are - a bit tough to eat because of all the small bones, and not really worth the effort. The sides were quite plain, simple rice and boiled vegetables - probably not a bad thing, given the amount of food we had consumed so far.
